Every year, our croux puts together a roundup of our favorite Super Bowl commercials.
This time around, we thought we’d switch it up and ask for submissions of our team’s favorite commercials EVER. Whether from 2023 or 2003, we want to celebrate the advertising magic of Super Bowl Sunday.

This commercial caught your attention quickly between the great music and sick dance moves, but more than that, it was an example of how a simple message and scene can be more powerful that a long, complicated sequence.
It appeals to the general population’s desire for more time doing what we enjoy. The commercial teaches you that by buying their product, you get more than just help with taxes, you get freedom to enjoy life. This triggers you to think about what makes you happy, thus creating a subconscious positive impression of the brand.
This commercial isn’t from a big brand name like Doritos or Google. It doesn’t have celebrity cameos or elaborate sets. What it
does have is a story that makes you feel an emotional response and is instantly relatable to millions. It’s a great marketing piece because it triggers a deep love for our pets and a desire to keep them healthy so that you can have more years together, thus creating a need and interest in their products.
For the last two decades I have steadfastly maintained that these two companion spots are as close to perfect as any Super Bowl ads I’ve ever seen. (Haven’t heard much agreement from others, but I shan’t be swayed! I could write a term paper on how and why I love these spots.)
It’s impossible to take your eyes off of it. It’s perfectly tailored to the event (building off the much-publicized cost of airing a spot), and it’s inextricably linked to the client’s offering.
Bob Garfield of Ad Age gave this his only 4-star review of the year, calling it, “Impossibly stupid, impossibly brilliant.” I couldn’t agree more.
Again, E-Trade plays off a well-known cultural phenomenon (the bursting of the dot com bubble) in a way that’s both insanely watchable and directly linked to the client. The cherry on top (out of several inside jokes) is the Iron Eyes Cody reference at the end. And just two words — “Invest wisely.” Magnificent!
Absolutely genius to market a men’s deodorant to women!
My favorite from the past is Reebok's 2008 "Office Linebacker" spot!
Although I also really liked the "Jesus Gets Us" spots, my favorite from this year was the "Office Rockstar" Workday ad.
