These statements are barely different but their meanings are worlds apart. They are separated by confidence, initiative and follow through.
There is a big difference in how these statements feel to a client or customer. One confirms that you are capable but leaves the client wondering if you’re going to. They hope so.
The other exudes confidence and strength reassuring them that you will handle the task at hand. This phrase also promotes follow through and accountability. When you deliver as promised, that can create a deposit of trust and credibility into the client relationship.
Wouldn’t it be a better experience to hear the sweet sounds of assurance that someone will do something you need and leave a memorable experience in your mind instead of knowing that they can but wonder if they will?
Try putting this in practice with your clients, friends, spouse – either in the spoken word or digital communications and watch how you will feel more accomplished when you deliver on your promises.
It may surprise people when you say that you will do something – it’s proven that to state such a positive outcome publicly will increase the chances of success by 72%. People will be surprised and delighted. Then they will expect it more often. That will result in all of us getting better at serving each other.
