We’re back again with our annual roundup of the Super Bowl commercials that made us smile or laugh (or cry). Nostalgia was a major theme this year.
Lianna, Lauren and Karen share their favorites below. What were yours?
I thought the commercial for Coinbase with the bouncing (90's-esque) QR code was really clever. I liked that it was reminiscent of the bouncing cube that was a default screensaver way back in the day. It also prompted an action without saying anything. In my marketing brain, I'm thinking how genius it is to be able to track how many people were actively engaged with your commercial while the rest of the ad spots can only gauge impressions.
I'm also always a big fan of the ones that tug at the heartstrings and the Toyota commercial featuring the McKeever brothers did just that. What a great story.
The Barbie Dream House was a fun, nostalgic concept with the different personas they created.
This ad will hit home for any 80's or 90's kid that is facing the current housing market. Plus, Anna Kendrick!
This commercial gave me Wes Anderson vibes with its beautiful use of color, camera angles and whimsy.
It did a great job at holding your attention with the interesting storyline and scenes throughout. A nice visual vacation from some of the busier ads.
Although a little scary, this one rang true, and it’s funny.
